Because heaven forbid I not share with you my first innermost reactions….. For me, in my old life, Labor Day was yet another day my kids are not at school. (drag). But now I’m adulting and have a business. And Labor Day is rapidly approaching. For a lot of America there will be some parades and… SALES. Because Labor Day is all about saving a bunch of money, while somebody else works.
Wait… Hold up yo. It’s sounds a little like Labor Day is a lot like Black Friday. Weird. Turkeys and Sales… hmmm (can you guys read the sarcastic font that I typically write with? Please say yes. Dear lord, I can’t decide if I can’t wait till the time we go viral or never want it to happen ever. Because then I’ll have to deal with everything I write)
Y’all know the history of Labor Day? Or why it was created?
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
So yes. We will be closed on Labor Day. Like EVERYONE SHOULD BE. (sorry for the judgement). What that means for you: SHOP ON SATURDAY. TOMORROW. We are open 8am – 4pm and Dang – that wonderful woman made Bread Pudding for tomorrow. With Caramel Sauce. I’m shaking my head in disbelief. If you live in a 70 mile radius you should go to The Butter Churn tomorrow just for that.
Could we be open so all the other folks who are off could shop at The Butter Churn? Sure. We could stock up on dinner rolls, condiments, etc… so we could make some money. Or we could do the right thing (it’s so irritating that we keep doing that) and be closed. (although Roxi did tell me that if you have a true emergency you can call her. I can’t promise anything, but what can I say – she’s generally a better person than I am.)
